Posture Shooting

Once correct technical posture is taught and mastered, a coach can begin with shooting technique. On average, passing and shooting should take up approximately 30% of the daily workout (can fluctuate depending on current preparation cycle).

Shooting fundamentals are TAUGHT- be sure to work on the following skills:

  • During vertical shooting - arm speed, release points (1-2-3-4-5), leg position, rotation of hips, position of both support leg and drive leg and timing

  • Movement posture will also require the players to use spider legs, so review the movement with cross face from behind

  • During horizontal shooting - elbow position reversed, driving leg , “L” leg trust, opposite hand, cervical swimming

  • In preparation for horizontal changes a high knee kick must be employed - add defense and ‘applying pressure from behind’ to drills
