We can’t stress enough how important this chapter is. We play the toughest sport in the world so we need to take care of ourselves. All athletes should be taught a solid 10-15 min Dryland warm up routine to do before every practice.
Incorporate band work and shoulder drills, hip openers (to get ready to eggbeat), abdominals, legs and lastly some kind of cardio. Before jumping into the water, every athlete should be sweating. If they aren’t warmed up properly they will be stiff which can lead to injury.
We recommend that coaches create a team routine for all athletes to perform together before every practice- this makes it much easier for everyone to get on the same page.
