The Vertical Jump drill tests explosivity out of the water. Athletes who score badly in this category are most likely lacking a strong breaststroke kick. Learning to dominate this drill will allow athletes to generate more steals, blocks and goals, since they can get higher when they shoot. 

Incorporate lots of vertical breast kicks and lunges. Teach athletes how to set the eggbeater before lunging out of the water. Vertical breast drills with the med ball or while passing are also great ways to increase this aspect of the game.
